The beach “Reale“: how to get there and how to enjoy the beach

A few kilometers from the center of Porto Azzurro, a small town of the very busy island of Elba, in the province of Livorno, we find the beach “Reale”, which seems to owe its name to a variant of the Latin word “rivus, rivi” meaning stream, little river. A decidedly fascinating coastline, easily reachable by car or by bus, which offers many possibilities for recreation and services for swimmers, like most beaches of Porto Azzurro.

From Porto Azzurro, driving along the provincial road 26 to Rio Marina and then taking the right to the detour of Capo D’Arco/Reale beach, you will soon arrive at this beautiful shore. Those who prefer public transport, can reach the “Reale” beach with the Marebus service.

The volcanic origin of the island gives this coast a fascinating and particular wild and naturalistic aspect; the beach is about 110 meters long and is made up of sand mixed with fine gray-colored gravel; the seabed is rocky.

If you prefer to spend your time in a more lively and busy way, you will have the opportunity to snorkel, thanks to some shoals on the lateral part of the beach; otherwise you can have fun plunging into the crystal clear waters of the sea thanks to the diving center that will provide you with the necessary boat and give you all information so that you can enjoy this activity; furthermore you can practice windsurfing, thanks to the presence of winds coming from the East.

Those who love hiking and exploring can not miss out to discover the beauty of the lake “Terranera”, which can be reached in just 10 walking minutes: you will find a cove of black sand, embellished with crystals of hematite and pyrite and from a vegetation of mining origin of an intense green color.

Finally, you can enjoy the beach of “Reale” and the leisure activities even if you are on holiday with your dog.

In addition to the mentioned bathing establishment, there is a restaurant and a bar for a refreshment break. You can easily leave your car in the free dirt parking available on the left side of the beach. Last but not least, it is important to remember that the “Reale” beach is equipped for access to people with reduced mobility.
